Board Basis - BB - Duration 7 nights - Prices From £389 - View Details

This wonderful little family-run guesthouse has quite obviously had hours of devotion given to it by Serafino and Purie, its proud owners. Serafino once told us that he had always wanted his own hotel and it was like a dream come true when he finally built it, complete with swimming pool and gardens. The ‘La Afra’ outdoor garden restaurant and bar within the grounds attracts guests from some of the larger hotels due to the wide-ranging and delicious home-cooked dishes on the menu.

The Dona Sa Maria is situated opposite a section of beach which is very occasionally used by the Indian Navy for manoeuvres, which are interesting
to watch whilst you sit back with that cool drink in the shade. The beach most popular with guests is a 1.5km or 15 minutes stroll (or a ride in
Serafino’s jeep!). The walk down to the sands is actually through the village of Tamborim with its rustic farmhouses surrounded by snorting pigs, goats, cows, chickens, and all manner of rural goings-on! However, it bears little in common with ‘The Archers’ with the women and children lifting water from wells in clay pots. Paddy fields and saltpans surround the guesthouse itself and the variety of birdlife in the area is quite unbelievable.

The twin rooms have an en-suite SH&WC, ceiling fan, and a balcony or terrace. Serafino has also built two properties next to the hotel with the same
facilities and sometimes clients are offered accommodation there. All rooms are offered on a Half Board basis with an allowance of Rs. 225/- per person per day to be used towards food
chosen from the hotel menu for either lunch or dinner. Children up to 12 years are on bed and continental breakfast basis only. Reception offers a money exchange facility, safety deposit boxes (payable locally) and bicycle hire. This guesthouse has the largest number of repeat visitors of any property in our brochure; it can’t come any more highly recommended than that! There have been sightings of more than 80 species of birds in the area, so this is also the perfect location for avid bird watchers.

27 rooms in 3 buildings on 2 floors.

Review Title : hotel; dona sa maria guest house Your Rating 5 Stars. Made By paul rochford on 28/07/2011
Went there a few years back and glad to see it's still going strong.Obviously, judging by the reviews Serafino, his familly and staff are still getting it just right. I loved every minute there and was distraught to have to come back home!
The service is everything it should be without the excessive formality of some hotels, the staff warm, friendly and honest.
The on site food and drink are excellent but if you fancy going out everything you need is a pleasant cycle ride away (or a short taxi ride,)
The beach is a nice walk away and is pure 'bounty advert', quiet, spacious, beautiful and every so often a beach shack selling drinks and food.
The yobs and druggies tend to go further north so there's another worry you haven't got.
Can't wait to get back there. enjoy!

Resort Information

Resort : Cavelossim Beach

Description : Cavelossim Beach has really become very popular during the last few years. As more hotels have been built, the area has developed into a village with lots of shops, bars and restaurants. If you’re looking for a bit of life but nothing too hectic then it’s absolutely fantastic.

Mike and Edwin, remain popular with their restaurants in central Cavelossim, ‘Mike’s Place’ and ‘The Goan Village’, as well as offering beach parties with fireworks at their shacks on the beach. There are lots of shacks to choose from and many guests befriend the locals in this area and come back to visit friends.

Review Title : Places to eat Your Rating 5 Stars. Made By P. Fairhurst on 10/03/2008
We have spent many holidays in Cavelossim Goa and have eaten in Sam's Beach Shack. In this place you will meet Sam and his team who are friendly and provide a professional service for excellent food and drinks. The beach party is held on a Monday night and we found the entertainment second to non. If you visit please say hello from Pat, Brian and grandson David.
Another must place to dine is Riverview. John the owner provide food which is out of this world and the his team give a service which is five star.

Review Title : Cavelossim Beach Paradise Your Rating 5 Stars. Made By Shaun Sweeney on 20/08/2008
What a great place, paradise on earth, we stayed at Bobs Place in the village above the local shop, the Apartments had 2 airconditioned double bedrooms lounge bathroom and kitchen all for £12 a night.
On the beach the Silver Waves Beach Shack has everything you need for paradise, cold drinks, great food, sun beds, surfboards, bikes, for you to use, but more importantly the most helpful, happy and attentive waiters, Chandu,Pinto and Mark.

The sunsets are stunning, to be enjoyed with one of the Silver Waves special cocktails.

What ever you do don’t miss the Silver Waves fantastic beach party, fire dancers, huge firework display, bonfire and dancing (even pole dancing like you have never seen before!) all till the early hours absolutely magic, a memory that will go to my grave with me, just magic.

In the evening there is a great choice of restaurants, our favourites are the Get Down (our favourite restaurant) and the Walkin (our favourite bar), opposite the Dona Sylvia.

We also tried the Riverside Restaurant (very quiet, riverside spot, with live music twice a week, Golden Eye (friendly garden restaurant). and the Hills Dene (a lovely garden restaurant with a wonderful owner).

The Get Down is probably the best restaurant that I have ever eaten in anywhere in the world, with perfect service and entertainment. The tandoori dishes are to die for, with presentation could not be bettered. The music is played at an ideal volume, never getting intrusive, with a perfect dance floor, no where in the world could life be better.

Review Title : My stay at the holiday inn, mobor goa Your Rating 5 Stars. Made By Ms Surinder Kainth on 19/11/2010
I visited Goa for a 2nd time, I stayed at The Holiday Inn, Mobor. It was an absolutely magical experience, the hotel was amazing, service was excellent, staff were just delightful. I walked along the beautiful beach to Cavelossim in 15 minutes where there is a variety of wonderful shops selling everything you could want. One of the best shops was House of Diamonds who sell a variety of jewellery with precious gems run by a family of brothers Tariq, Ashraf and Danny at very reasonable prices. Overall Goa was a magical 5 star experience, i really recommend it.
