The Per Avel Guesthouse is in a prime position, just a stone's throw from the beach at the quieter end of Candolim. It is an ideal place to get away from it all. If you fancy a 5-star treat, this accommodation is not far from the Taj Holiday Village or the Fort Aguada Hotel, which can both be reached via a short walk along the beach or by the road at the top of the track from the guesthouse. A short 3-minute walk will take you to the shops, bars and restaurants on the busy main Candolim road.

The simple, compact rooms have a double or twin beds and some have a third bed which is only suitable for a child. All have en-suite shower & WC. As it is very simple, the majority of guests using this guesthouse use it just to sleep, shower and change. There is a small snack bar set in the corner of the grassed courtyard which can readily supply a cold beer and lunchtime snack. Air-conditioning and fridges are available, on request, subject to availability and payable locally. Safe deposit boxes are available at reception, payable locally. Accommodation is offered on bed and continental breakfast basis. A simple accommodation in a superb location.

Resort : Candolim Beach

Description : Candolim Beach is the longest part of this northern stretch and is quieter than Calangute but still is getting busier every year. At this point the beach is as deep as a football pitch, and the beach bars and shacks are set back on the sand dunes. The shacks here have become more sophisticated, each trying to outdo the other with a more interesting design.

One of the most innovative has to be Stringfellos which is designed like watchtowers with seating on several levels and is a great place to watch the world go by whilst enjoying the late afternoon breeze.

Amidst the sunbeds and beach shacks the fishing community have their huts on the beach and still fish as they have always done, most locals eating fish curry and rice on a daily basis. The only difference from their Grandfather’s day is the fact that they have an outboard motor on the back of their ancient craft!

Stayed in Baga other years but after spending some time in Candolim have booked to go there this year. John & Julie are the friendliest people I have ever met her and Deepak must be the best waiter ever, even if he does not speak much. Food is brilliant. Ask John to get the giant prawns. Lovely.
