Review Title : Great holiday at the Highland Beach Your Rating 5 Stars. Made By Sally on 07/12/2006
Just come back from the Highland beach hotel. What a fab holiday! The food was great, they cater for everyone! Rooms were really spacious. bedroom bathroom, separate loo, kichen and lounge area. basic but really clean. The staff cant do
enough for you. the best part of the hotel are the pool, 3! Nice and quite every one goes to the beach. Candolim is the best place to stay in north Goa, a lot quiter than Baga.

Review Title : HIGHLAND BEACH Your Rating 5 Stars. Made By mark on 07/12/2006
Been to Goa several times over the last few years but first time at the Highland Beach Hotel. Not sure why its called Highland Beach because it’s a 10 minute walk to the beach not that we minded because after the big breakfast your glad of the walk! They did a buffet breakfast every day and it was big! Loads of choice. Some days we stayed by the pool because they are lovely at the Hotel. Food in the Highland Beach is really good and excellent value. They even do egg and chips if you get fed up with curries, which I never did, but my husband does.

The staff at the hotel were all very pleasant, not too much in your face.

Loved the room, really big and proper shower in the bathroom. Not that basic either which is a surprise for Goa

Review Title : relax at the highland beach resort Your Rating 3 Stars. Made By patricia sunderland on 04/02/2007
Relaxing hotel, lovely setting, the staff are very nice and helpful. The rooms are adequate, found the air conditioning system too noisy to leave on at night.Buy your own towels in the resort if you are fussy about extra white towels in the bathroom, they come back from the laundry a sandy colour. Breakfast is very egg friendly. apart from all that I would go back.

Review Title : Christmas @ Highland Beach Your Rating 4 Stars. Made By Anne Braysher on 03/01/2009
Good base to see Goa, Candolim quieter than nearby Calangute.
Highland Beach large complex, still under development so very different rooms depending upon your room allocation.
We stayed in room 105 in first block front facing room. View was of the road up to main strip just above the taxi rank. Great as a base and for G&T on balcony before hitting the restaurants in the evening.
Complex boasts four pools - each one surrounded by rooms but its a good place to break in the white skin for the first few days,
When ready head off to the beach and find a good 'shack' as a base for relaxing days listening to the sea.
All food fantastic quality and price, English available if you can't face curry everyday.
Rate during our visit was 69-72R/£1 which made a beer or vodka/coke just about £1 and main course for evening meal £2-3, bargain!
Not a 'beautiful' destination but if you want sunshine, good food at a bargain price - try it now!

Review Title : ask the manager Your Rating 3 Stars. Made By Donna and Simon on 04/01/2010
arrived early tired from the trip. Just happy to be there. fell asleep immediately but when we woke realised the room we were in was sub standard . Spoke to the rep who was a waste of time so we were making new friends at night and the person we talked to knew the manager personally (sure the managers name was Tommy)
saw him the next day and we were moved to a more suitable appartment The people are really friendly and do not be worried to ask as nothing seemed too much for them all. Breakfast is still egg based and a decent start for the day.
Returning to Goa end of 2010 all being well Not been put off and may even go back to the Highland

Resort Information

Resort : Candolim Beach

Description : Candolim Beach is the longest part of this northern stretch and is quieter than Calangute but still is getting busier every year. At this point the beach is as deep as a football pitch, and the beach bars and shacks are set back on the sand dunes. The shacks here have become more sophisticated, each trying to outdo the other with a more interesting design.

One of the most innovative has to be Stringfellos which is designed like watchtowers with seating on several levels and is a great place to watch the world go by whilst enjoying the late afternoon breeze.

Amidst the sunbeds and beach shacks the fishing community have their huts on the beach and still fish as they have always done, most locals eating fish curry and rice on a daily basis. The only difference from their Grandfather’s day is the fact that they have an outboard motor on the back of their ancient craft!

Love Goa! previously had said there are too many places in the world to go to the same place twice, however was hooked after our first trip and booked for the following year as soon as we arrived home -every year and counting the weeks until we go back agian Dec 13th 08. Stayed in Baga other years but after spending some time in Candolim have booked to go there this year. Great shops, restaurants, pubs and Dreamers beach shack is exactly what its name says it is!

Review Title : Mamma Ceceilia's Beach Bar Your Rating 5 Stars. Made By debbie moore on 21/11/2009
You have just got to get yourself to this Beach Bar. John & Julie are the friendliest people I have ever met her and Deepak must be the best waiter ever, even if he does not speak much. Food is brilliant. Ask John to get the giant prawns. Lovely.
